BARRISTER UFOMATA CELEBRATES SURVIVAL
A prominent member of the Ikeja branch, Barrister Afam Ufomata hosted a large number of his friends, relatives, church members and professional colleagues to a huge celebration in his Omole Phase 2 home on Sunday 20th June 2010.Some moths ago, the amiable and easy going lawyer almost lost his life in a ghastly motor accident but which left him with severe bruises all over his body and a broken hand. Fully mended now, Ufomata thought it wise to do a Thanksgiving Service in his worship place in the morning and a Thanksgiving reception at home later in the day.
Among other lawyers present at the “home affair” where sumptuous dishes and good wine flowed like water were Mr. Adebamigbe Omole, the new chairman of the Ikeja branch, Mr. Yinka Farounbi, the new 1st Vice-Chairman, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana (new General Secretary) and Mr. Adesina Adegbite (new Financial Secretary). The Squib wishes Barrister Ufomata many accident free and more prosperous years ahead. By the way, the “Ugba delicacy” served at the reception, was hmmmmmm!
MECHANIC SEEKS BAR REGISTRATION
A man in his mid-fifties, simply identified as Friday Omoike Erewele and with not even a nodding acquaintance with the legal profession has approached the secretariat of the Ikeja bar for possible registration as a member of the branch.
According to the gentleman who presented a City and Guilds of London Institute certificate for motor vehicle technicians instead of L.L.B, B.L certificates required of him by the General Secretary, his City and Guilds certificate is enough to qualify him to practice law in Nigeria and be a member of the Bar.
He refused to be persuaded to the contrary view. He left promising to bring more certificates to show that he studied law courses too along his technological studies.
It was difficult to assess the man a mental case as he talked intelligibly and normally enough and was dressed respectably.
